Day 1 – Arrival and booking into a hotel in Sigiriya.
You will arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport today in accordance with Sri Lanka 8 days beach tour arrangements. Your THE SRI LANKA TOURS representative will meet you at the airport and welcome you. You will then board your vehicle and drive to the historical city of Sigiriya, stopping first to visit the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala. Pinnawala is a special place to observe elephants.
The Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation established the facility in 1975 to provide care for young elephants that had been abandoned and lost in the wild woods. These adorable creatures are taken in, brought up, and reproduced in captivity. It is located in Pinnawala village, 13 kilometers northeast of Kegalle town. The Pinnawala orphanage is home to the biggest herd of captive elephants in the world. Beginning at 9 a.m. while visiting the orphanage should take place. to 1 p.m. As a result, this is the time that young elephants receive their daily baths and milk feedings. It’s a great opportunity for guests to see these tamed elephants having fun and taking baths in the nearby river.
Day 2 – Sigiriya to Kandy
On the second day, you will do rock climbing before traveling to Kandy, which is renowned for the Sigiriya rock fortress. Under King Kashyapa, Sigiriya, sometimes referred to as the “lion rock,” was the administrative center and the country’s capital. King Kashyapa is credited with building a massive entryway in the shape of a lion halfway up a cliff near Sigiriya. Its shape earned it the nickname “lion rock” (Sigiriya). The castle was left unoccupied following the king’s death. In the fourteenth century, it was still in operation as a Buddhist monastery. UNESCO has named the fortress’s ruins, which are still visible today, a World Heritage Site. The Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple, sometimes referred to as the Dambulla Golden Temple, will be the destination of our next expedition. The five-chambered building is the biggest and best-preserved cave temple in Sri Lanka. Murals have been made on a total surface area of 2100 m2. The temple contains 157 statues in all. The massive 150-meter-tall rock that serves as the temple’s ceiling makes its presence a natural wonder. The large, 15-meter-tall golden statue and pagoda were built after extensive renovations. Additionally, the temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Spice Garden, a beautiful location bursting with fragrances and flora, will be our next stop. You will also get the chance to learn about the numerous ways that spices are used in both food and medicine. The Matale Muthumariamman Temple is where we will stop next. The words Muthu, which means pearl, Mari, which means rain, and Amman, which means mother, are combined to form the name Muthumariamman. It is a shrine to Mariamman, the Hindu deity of rain and fertility. It’s fun to visit the temple. The temple is frequently used for religious events like weddings. The primary religious ceremony performed in the temple throughout the month of March is the chariot festival, a joyful celebration. We will then proceed immediately to Kandy to go to Sri Dalada Maligawa, one of Sri Lanka’s most well-liked tourist destinations, and the Temple of the Tooth Relic. It is a sacred site that is very significant to all Buddhists worldwide. It is the temple where the left canine tooth of the Buddha is honored. In 1988, UNESCO named it a treasure of world culture. We’re going to the Kandy Cultural Dance Show on our next trip. This mesmerizing performance showcases the dancing, emotions, and cultural legacy of Sri Lanka. Since the dancers from the Kandy Lake club have been doing it since around 1982, you shouldn’t miss it. Its major objective is to present each Sri Lankan dance on a single stage. After that, you’ll be taken to your hotel for the night.
Day 3 – Kandy to Ella
On the third day of your Sri Lanka 8 day beach tour, you will go to the famous Ella City, a little hamlet located in the Central Province’s highlands. As you move towards the highlands, you will see mountains, waterfalls, and spectacular views. Along the route, you’ll make a few stops, including at Sri Lanka’s eleventh-tallest waterfall, the 109-meter-tall Ramboda Falls (358 ft). Our next excursion will take us to Sri Lanka’s oldest tea institution, the Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden.
A free factory tour and tastings of tea are available. We’ll stop at a few notable locations en route to the charming hamlet of Nuwara Eliya, including Gregory Lake, where you may go on a pony ride and savor a delicious lunch. After that, we’ll proceed to the Nuwara Eliya post office. It is one of Sri Lanka’s oldest post offices and has a distinctive style. You will then be driven to the Nanu Oya Railway Station, from where you will take the train for the most amazing ride to Ella, a lovely city. This is one of the most romantic rail journeys in Sri Lanka. Taking in the spectacular views of the island’s gorgeous green tea gardens, mountains, bridges, valleys, and lush wilderness is a must-do activity in Sri Lanka. You may chat with other passengers and wave at kids running beside the tracks while you purchase delectable goodies from the sellers who board the train at each station. After the train ride, you’ll be transferred to your overnight location.
Day 4 to 7 – Arugam bay
On the fourth day of your Sri Lanka 8 days beach tour, we will go to Arugam Bay, where we will be spending the rest of the trip. We will be stopping at Little Adam’s Peak, among other places. Since the two summits are similar, Little Adam’s Peak, also known as Mini Adam’s Peak, was given the famed Adams Peak’s name (Sri Pada). A magnificent mountain covered in tea plantations can be reached after a short ascent to Little Adams Peak, where you can see workers harvesting tea. The scene amid the dense bush is magnificent. This climb is one you won’t soon forget. The Nine Arch Bridge is the next structure, and it is well worth seeing to admire the engineering and beauty of the bridge. The Nine Arch Bridge is also known as The Bridge in the Sky. It is a Colonial-era building with a viaduct bridge design.
Then we will head to Arugam Bay. Many people consider the well-known point break at lovely Arugam Bay, a moon-shaped curl of soft sand, to be the greatest surf location in the nation. It is a small community with only a few hundred residents, and everything is strewn over a single road that runs parallel to the ocean. In other words, it embodies the carefree beach culture that initially attracted surfers and sunbathers to Sri Lanka. There are many activities to do, as follows.
- Climb up Elephant Rock. Elephant Point is one of the wonderful bays that are located in the Arugam region. At the far end of this bay, Elephant Rock offers a fantastic vantage point from which to see the whole region. The good news is that it just takes 20 minutes. Even if the route there is not the most direct one, you can get a beautiful view of the sunset.
- This stunning white temple can be seen from the shore of Arugam Bay. It is exquisitely situated among Pottuvil’s sand dunes. Combine this with a trip to Whiskey Point or the beach.
- At Arugam Bay Beach, at the height of the surf season, Arugam Bay is well-known for its waves. Some people really believe there is no better spot to surf. Here, major corporations like Red Bull host events. By renting a board, you can explore the well-known surfing areas in town, such as Baby Point, Peanut Farm Beach, Main Point, and Elephant Point. From June through August, Arugam Bay has its peak season.
- One of the most popular activities in Arugam Bay is a 2-hour lagoon safari. Elephants may be seen as well as other animals in the stunning, unspoiled lagoons of Kottukal or Urani. We may suggest Azi Taxi as your means of transportation.
- Kudumbigala Monastery is a monastery situated deep in the forest. Great, isn’t it? To travel to the base of the rock from Arugam Bay, it will take you around 45 minutes. Although the ascent is not the simplest, it does offer a panoramic view of the area.

Day 8: Departure
