Day 1 – Arrival and Booking into a Hotel in Kandy
According to your plan, which calls for a five-day trip and a four-night stay, you are anticipated to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport today. A representative from The Sri Lanka Tours will meet and greet you at the airport. Drive to Kandy from there, pausing to visit the Pinnawala elephant orphanage along the way. Pinnawala in Sri Lanka is a special place to see elephants.
The Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation constructed the facility in 1975 to provide care for young elephants that had been abandoned and lost in the jungles. These adorable creatures are brought in, bred, and kept in captivity. It is located in Pinnawala village, 13 kilometers northeast of Kegalle town. The Pinnawala orphanage is home to the biggest herd of captive elephants in the world. The optimal time to visit the orphanage is between 9 am and 1 pm. Thus, during this time each day, young elephants are washed and given milk. It is wonderful that visitors get the chance to see these trained elephants having fun and taking a wash in the nearby river. We shall then proceed to Kandy.
Day 2 – Kandy to Ramboda, Peradeniya, and Back to Kandy
After the guests have breakfast on day two, we will leave for Nuwara Eliya. The world-famous epicenter of the tea business is located in Nuwara Eliya, a charming city in the hill country of the Central Province. The name Nuwara Eliya may be interpreted as either “city of lights” or “city on the plains.” In Nuwara Eliya, which is 76 kilometers from Kandy, there are several nearby attractions.
Our first stop is the Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden. We pass through several tea plantations on our way to Nuwara Eliya. The oldest tea store in The Sri Lanka is currently what was originally known as the Mackwoods. There are luxurious tea plantations over a whopping 5000 hectares of land. You will learn about the manufacture of both black and white tea as each variety of tea has a unique process. At the end of the factory tour, a free sample of tea is provided.
The next stop is the Ramboda falls, which are close to the Nuwara Eliya highway and plunge precipitously over a multi-tiered granite cliff. The Ramboda Falls are Sri Lanka’s eleventh-highest waterfall, plummeting from a height of 358 feet (109 meters). The waterfall is nourished by the Panna Oya River, a tributary of the Kothmale Oya. It looks gorgeous since an emerald forest frames it, which is fantastic. Following that, we head straight towards Nuwara Eliya City to see Lake Gregory, which is located at the southern end of the town and gives a breathtaking view and a relaxing experience. Sir William Gregory’s name was given to it in 1873; it is a well-known tourist site. Visitors can enjoy picnics in the lake park, equestrian or boat trips, leisurely strolls along the trails, or all three.
The next very odd tourist attraction is the Nuwara Eliya post office, which is located in the center of the city. The post office is unique as it is one of The Sri Lanka’s oldest post offices. The Tudor-style, two-story redbrick building with a clock tower was constructed in 1894 by the British. The top floor of the post office houses a hotel. We eventually return to Kandy for the evening.
Day 3 – Drop Off to Airport
You’ll get the chance to explore the wonderful city of Kandy on your third and final day of travel, and we’ll also take you to a few neighboring spots. After breakfast, our car will take you up to the hotel. One of the most well-known tourist destinations in The Sri Lanka is the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), which will be one of the locations we visit. It is a sacred and important location for all Buddhists around the world. It is the temple where the left canine tooth of the Buddha is honored. In 1988, UNESCO named it a treasure of world culture.
Your next stop will be the Bahirawakanda Temple on Bahirawakanda Hill, a well-known tourist destination known for its spectacular Buddha sculpture. We’ll eventually reach the Kandy viewpoint, which provides a thorough panorama of the city.
The next destination is a neighborhood market where you may purchase a variety of items, including organic food and gifts. Our next outing will take us to the National Gems and Gemmological Museum, a museum where you can learn about the gems in The Sri Lanka. It also gives thorough information about The Sri Lanka’s lengthy history, which goes back 4.6 billion years. Some of the most incredible minerals ever found are also on show.
Our next trip will be to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden. More than 4000 different plant kinds may be found on the 147 acres of the lovely Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens. It is approximately 5.5 kilometers away from Kandy. The serene and lovely setting is a result of the lovely Mahaweli River that flows through it.
